What Lies Ahead
Once in a thousand years, I am born,
Twice in a million years, have I shone,
I pounced on this earth in a wave of awe,
However doesn't it seem it's lacking the law?
Once in a thousand years, I make my arrival,
There shall be no matter trivial,
I can't see what lies ahead,
A trodden path or an untrodden one to have lead?
I see fire and I see hail,
Once in every month does it sail,
However, what I can't see in me fed,
Is what lies ahead.
I hear waves and I hear vibes,
A culture's sonata and the dance of tribes,
However, what I can't hear in me is what I dread,
Is what lies ahead.
I feel water and I feel the air,
The master's flair and the wails of a spare,
However what I can't feel in me is how time's sped,
Is what lies ahead.
I taste food and everything I taste
The slow oozing of chocolate and a touch of haste,
However what I can't taste is the next day's bread,
Is what lies ahead.
I smell flames and I smell ice,
The sense of sweetness and a surge of spice,
However what I can't smell is of the food yet to be baked instead,
Is what lies ahead.
I speak of fate and I speak of fortune,
Both the past and present settled in my tune,
However, what I can't speak are the words I haven't read,
Is what lies ahead.
